Ordinations to the Sacred Priesthood
Cathedral Church of St. Andrew the Apostle, Sekondi | Saturday 28th June – 8:30 AM
By the grace of God, the Rt. Rev’d Alexander K. Asmah, Anglican Bishop of Sekondi, will ordain seven deacons to the sacred priesthood at a solemn Eucharist to be held at the Cathedral Church of St. Andrew the Apostle, Sekondi, on Saturday 28th June 2025 at 8:30am.
This significant moment in the life of our Diocese is both historic and sacred. Each of these men has already responded to the call of Christ as deacons, living lives of humble service, proclaiming the Word, and assisting at the altar. Now, having been formed in prayer, study, and pastoral ministry, they are called once more—this time, into the fullness of the priestly vocation.
Through the laying on of hands and the invocation of the Holy Spirit, they will be made priests in Christ’s One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church—priests whose lives will be marked by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the proclamation of the Gospel, and the faithful administration of the sacraments.
This is not a departure from their diaconal identity, but rather its fulfilment and elevation: they remain deacons—servants of Christ and his Church—but now receive the sacred charge to stand at the altar, to forgive sins in Christ’s name, to anoint, to bless, and to shepherd God’s people as icons of the Great High Priest.
🙌 Come and Celebrate with Us

“You did not choose me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last.”
— John 15:16
To God be the glory!
